Senators Tillis and Burr and Representative McHenryworkedwith stakeholdersin Western North Carolinaand USDOT staffto highlight the importance of Asheville Regional Airport's need and ensure they had the strongest application possible. This $10 million grant to rehabilitate a terminal at Asheville Regional Airport is crucial as Western North Carolina continues to improve its infrastructure and welcome people from all over the world,said Senator Tillis.I was proud to work with my colleagues to advocate for AVL to secure this grant from DOT, and I want to thank Secretary Chaoand President Trump for investing in the future of North Carolina. Asheville Regional Airport has served Western North Carolina and its visitors from around the world for more than 50 years,said Senator Burr. But its current passenger loads and future expansion means there are much-needed upgrades to make to the airport's infrastructure. That's why I was proud to work with my colleagues to help secure this $10 million grant, which will give AVL the resources to improve its terminal for its passengers and pave the way for even more growth in the future. This announcement is great news for Asheville and all of western North Carolina,said Representative McHenry.The Asheville Regional Airport plays a crucial role in driving tourism and growing businesses in our part of the state.
