Bloom worked from 2009-2012 as state director for former U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman, where he focused on energy, public lands, health and education issues. Bloom will be based in Albuquerque and supervise staff in Udall's field offices in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Carlsbad and Portales. "Greg is a dedicated public servant, and I'm very pleased to bring him on to lead my team in New Mexico," Udall said. "The state director is a vitally important leader in my office, supervising staff, leading casework, and making sure we're in touch with people in communities throughout the state. Greg has strong New Mexico roots, a great track record of accomplishments for the state, and he will be an excellent leader for my state office." Bloom said, "I'm honored to join Senator Udall's team. Senator Udall is working hard to expand economic opportunities for the state, improve education and health care, conserve our beautiful landscapes - and especially to provide excellent service to New Mexicans. I'm excited to get started." After Bingaman's retirement, Bloom worked for Commissioner of Public Lands Ray Powell at the New Mexico State Land Office from 2012-2014 as assistant commissioner for mineral resources. During Bloom's tenure, his two divisions earned over $2 billion in revenue for the state. Most recently, Bloom was an energy and environment consultant. He lives with his family in Albuquerque. Bloom succeeds Namb native Bianca Ortiz Wertheim, who was promoted to chief of staff in Washington, D.C., earlier this year.
