Representing the City of Baltimore in the United States Senate is an honor and addressing the needs of its residents from voicing their concerns on the Senate floor, to advocating for legislation to support our city, to helping constituents access services and solve problems with federal agencies is one of my key priorities. Given Shannon's deep roots in Baltimore and her excellent work on behalf of its residents, I am thrilled to welcome her to our team. I'm confident she will continue to dedicate herself to the city that she loves and serve the people of Baltimore well in this new role,said Van Hollen. From 2016 to 2020, Shannon Sneed served as Baltimore City Councilwoman for District 13 in East Baltimore. On the Council, Shannon was a fierce advocate for the residents of District 13 standing up for transparency and fairness in city government and fighting for policies that protect the hard-working men and women of Baltimore City. Before serving on the City Council, Shannon worked with Big Brothers, Big Sisters to recruit mentors to work with Baltimore's youth. Prior to that, Shannon worked in the Mayor's Office of Employment Development helping people across Baltimore find jobs. Before joining the Mayor's Office, Shannon was a professor at Coppin State University and worked as an assignment editor and producer for Baltimore's Fox45 and WJZ Channel 13. Shannon has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a master's degree in Communication Management from Morgan State University.
