The telephone town hall followed Congressional Republican’s government shutdown, which was brought on by the Trump Administration’s refusal to negotiate an extension of health care tax credits. The delegation heard directly from Vermonters about their concerns and answered questions about how they are working to lower costs for families, protect democracy, and fight back against President Trump’s reckless policies. “The immediate urgency is health care. This is on top of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill,’ (so called), which is going to kick 15 million people off of health care. It’s going to take a trillion dollars out of our health care system, and it’s going to be brutal on our community hospitals that are so essential to the well-being of Vermonters.
