The Paris Agreement represents the commitment of over 180 countriesrepresenting approximately 98 percent of greenhouse gas emissions worldwideto avoid the worst effects of climate change like drought, flooding, and extreme weather. It will also speed the transition to a clean energy economy. The Agreement is rigorous, requires transparency, and puts in place a framework to further reduce emissions over time.
