The senators’ resolution described the importance of telehealth to various populations, including rural communities and areas strained by workplace shortages. It also noted that 23 percent of Medicare beneficiaries received at least one telehealth service in 2025 and warned that lapses in Medicare coverage in this space would create negative impacts on seniors’ access to care. Finally, the resolution recommended a series of additional steps to improve telehealth outcomes, such as promoting awareness, highlighting available resources, collecting data, and expanding access. In addition to Senators Wicker and Schatz, the resolution was cosponsored by U.S. Senators Warner, Hyde-Smith, Welch, and Barrasso.
