Oregon's U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden today announced that $1,467,000 in federal grant funding is headed to the McMinnville Municipal Airport to support the reconstruction of 10,500 square yards of existing apron. Airport aprons are terminal-adjacent areas where aircraft are parked, boarded, unloaded, and refueled. The McMinnville Municipal Airport plays a critical role in helping Yamhill county residents and businesses stay connected with other communities in Oregon and beyond, said Merkley. I'm pleased that this funding will help maintain the airport so that it will continue to serve Oregonians for years to comeand will keep fighting for the transportation investments we need to resume travel and rebuild our economy after this pandemic is over. Airports providing service to Oregonians living and working in smaller communities like Yamhill County are essential to quality of life and keeping the local economy robust despite the economic consequences of COVID-19, Wyden said. I'm glad the McMinnville Municipal Airport has earned these federal resources, and will keep working for all parts of Oregon to secure investments that similarly support jobs and strengthen transportation infrastructure. The funding is being distributed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. ### Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
