Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) voted in favor of passing the Emergency Disaster Aid Package H.R. 4667. Todays vote sends the bill to the Senate for consideration in that chamber. Congressman Yoho released the following statement: Today, the House finally voted to send much-needed relief to citizens in the state of Florida who were hurt by Hurricane Irma over three months ago. This package will also assist our fellow citizens in other disaster-affected states, as well as Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. This funding is critical for our states infrastructure, local school districts, small businesses, military facilities, and agricultural production. Hurricane Irma was a devastating event, and our state is still reeling from the effects of that storm months afterward. Included in this package is $2.6 billion in agricultural relief, including aid for crop losses in disaster-designated areas. This provision is vital to ensure Floridas agricultural sector, the states second largest with $120 billion in economic activity, does not collapse. It has sadly taken over three months for this vote to occur, and I now strongly urge all Senators to do their job and pass this legislation before they leave town. It would be a wonderful Christmas gift to those still suffering from Irmas affects for President Trump to sign this legislation into law before the weekend.
