Every Christmas since coming to Congress, Congressman Zeldin has led a Congressional Delegation (CODEL) of Members of Congress to the Middle East. This year, the CODEL is being co-led with Congressman David Cicilline (D, RI-1). Congressmen Zeldin and Cicilline are also joined by Representatives Max Rose (D, NY-11), Brian Fitzpatrick (R, PA-08), Susan Wild (D, PA-07), Dean Phillips (D, MN-03), Gil Cisneros (D, CA-39), and Aumua Amata Radewagen (R, AS-AL). The CODEL's first stop was Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. Yesterday, the CODEL made its second stop to Bahrain, where the delegation met with U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain Justin Hicks Siberell and Bahrain's Minister of Finance & National EconomyH.E. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa. The delegation then visited Naval Support Activity Bahrain, where the delegation served a holiday lunch to deployed troops stationed there, including Navy Sailor Bruce Kriete from Shirley, New York, who graduated from Longwood High School in 2006. Congressman Zeldin also met with the Commander of the Fifth Fleet Vice Admiral James J. Malloy. Merry Christmas from the Middle East!
