The funding was allocated through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and will be used to build a new commercial terminal for the Concord Regional Airport. This is a major win for Concord Regional Airport, the Concord community and surrounding areas, said Congresswoman Adams. This vital infrastructure upgrade will allow the Concord Regional Airport to better accommodate the needs of passengers who travel throughout the airport each day. I will continue to push for critical investments like this one for the Concord Regional Airport that strengthen our transportation systems, boost our local economy and help ensure our communities are sustained for years to come. Todays announcement is welcome news for all of us, said Congressman Hudson. Ive been a huge proponent for the Concord Regional Airport for more than 15 years because I recognize its invaluable impact on our community - providing opportunities for local businesses, contributing millions of dollars to the economy, and supporting thousands of jobs. We are pleased to receive this grant from the FAA that will help Concord Regional Airport build facilities to provide better service to the community and region, said Concord Mayor J. Scott Padgett. The Citys longstanding partnership with the federal government first built this facility into North Carolinas busiest general aviation airport. That history remains the foundation of Concord Regional Airport, with the growth of affordable commercial service being the key to the airports future. We especially thank Members of Congress Alma Adams and Richard Hudson, who along with their staffs were essential to our success in the grant process. U.S. Representatives Adams and Hudsons offices have both been in contact with the Federal Aviation Administration to facilitate the release of the funding for the Concord Regional Airport. The FAA has designated more than $6.4 million to Concord Regional Airport to construct a replacement 25,347 square foot terminal building.
