Adams (NC-12) today announced she is accepting entries for the Congressional App Challenge. Established in 2013, the Congressional App Challenge is a national competition that allows high school students from across the county to create and exhibit their software application, or app for mobile, tablet or computer devices. The competition is meant to encourage student engagement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are vital in helping us stay competitive in a global economy, said Congresswoman Adams. The Congressional App Challenge is an opportunity for students to have fun coding, while exploring STEM skills. I encourage all students in North Carolinas 12th District to participate in the competition. The Congressional App Challenge is open to all high school students and those eligible to attend public high school in North Carolinas 12th Congressional District. Students may work individually or in teams of up to four. All entries must be original in concept, design and execution. Students entering the competition must register in advance to show their intent to participate and then submit their apps source code along with a YouTube or VIMEO video that explains their app and what they learned through the competition. The deadline to submit is 11:59 PM ET on January 15, 2016. The winner of the app challenge will have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
