Adams (NC-12) today announced three federal grants totaling $1,798,241 for the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC). The federal funding was allocated through the National Science Foundation (NSF) and will be used to carry out a research project to study the development of oat fiber, to fund research into training workers for the advanced manufacturing engineering industry, and to fund student travel to an international research conference in Germany. This is great news for the University of North Carolina Charlotte, said Congresswoman Adams. Research is vital to sustain Americas global competitiveness and economic success. I am pleased UNCC was awarded this federal funding for research and to send students to a major international research conference. UNCC will use $1,488,244 in federal funding to research the development of oat fiber. $10,000 in funding will be used to send students to the 23rd International Conference on Case-Based Reasoning, in Germany. $299,997 in funding will be used for initial research into training workers for the advanced manufacturing engineering industry.
