Adams (NC-12) legislation to name a Winston-Salem post office after Dr. Maya Angelou, passed out of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee by unanimous consent. The legislation, H.R. 3735, would rename the Center City post office located at 200 Town Run Lane in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to that of the Maya Angelou Memorial Post Office. Congresswoman Adams introduced the legislation in October and it now heads to the floor for a full vote in the House of Representatives. Winston-Salem was Dr. Angelous primary residence and final resting place. She called Winston-Salem home for more than 30 years. Im glad this legislation has passed the first hurdle and is now on its way to the floor for a full vote in the House, said Congresswoman Alma Adams. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure this legislation passes. Naming the Winston-Salem Center City Post office after Dr. Maya Angelou is just one way to honor such a phenomenal woman.
