Adams (NC-12) today released the following statement on the Randall Kerrick trial: I was deeply troubled by the killing of Jonathan Ferrell and havebeen following the Randall Kerrick trial closely. Charlotte has been swift in their prosecution of officer Kerrick and I hope they move with the same haste in deciding to retry this case. The case needs to be retried, and justice served. We must learn from this tragedy to ensure this kind of act never happens again. I had a very productive call with Police Chief Kerr Putney, earlier this week. We found common ground on the need to ensure officers are properly trained and equipped with the tools needed to keep our communities and themselves safe, such as body cameras and dash board cameras. I will be hosting a community listening session in Greensboro onAugust 27th at 6:00 p.m.and in Charlotte onSeptember 1st at 6:00pm to discuss these very issues. I look forward to hearing from the community and sharing what we're doing on the federal level to keep our communities safe and our police properly equipped. Healing our community requires that we all work together.
