Hastings (D-FL) released the following statement on the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: I join our nation in mourning the devastating loss of Justice Ginsburg. During her nearly three decades of service to our nation's highest court, she was always a steadfast defender of women's rights, civil rights, and equality for all, becoming a trailblazer of justice for so many across our nation. Hercareer of fighting tirelessly so that every American could exercise their constitutional rights will continue to inspire all of us, including the generations to come, to continue to act with the courage, intelligence, morality and wisdom that Justice Ginsburg embodied. We have a responsibility to honor Justice Ginsburg's legacy by carrying forward the values she stood for on the Supreme Court and in our democracy. My heart goes out to the entire Ginsburg family, including her children, Jane and James, and her grandchildren Paul, Clara, Miranda and Abigail, during this time of great sadness and loss. Congressman Alcee L. Hastings serves as Vice-Chairman of the House Rules Committee, Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Co-Chairman of the Florida Delegation. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
