This bipartisan and bicameral legislation modernizes our healthcare infrastructure, bringing it into the 21st century by accelerating the cycle of discovering, developing and delivering new cures and treatments. The Cures Act ensures America continues to remain at the forefront of biomedical innovation. This legislation passed the House by a vote of 392-26. Rep. Rick Allen (R-Ga.-12) released the following statement in support: “Today Congress made history for the millions of Americans living with and fighting diseases. By passing the Cures Act, we can finally bring our healthcare innovation and infrastructure into the 21st Century—where it belongs. By removing the bureaucratic barriers and red tape surrounding the regulatory process, we can bridge the gap between the science of cures and the way we regulate these therapies. We must keep America at the forefront of medical innovation and bring hope to patients and their loved ones across America by delivering lifesaving and life improving therapies— the 21st Century Cures Act does just that.” The 21st Century Cures Act: Accelerates the discovery, development and delivery of new treatments and cures for patients by: Streamlining and improving the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) review of life-saving drugs Modernizing clinical trials and removing regulatory uncertainty for development of new medical applications Supporting and investing in the next generation of scientists Provides $4.8 billion over the next 10 years to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for critical medicine research programs and initiatives Provides $500 million to the FDA over the next 10 years to accelerate the delivery of medical devices and drugs to patients more quickly Provides $1 billion over the next two years for grants to states to combat opioid abuse and supplement prevention and treatment Includes two other important provisions: Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Reforms Act which assists individuals and their families in mental health crisis and addresses the needs of Americans with a substance abuse order Increasing Choice, Access and Quality in Health Care for Americans Act which includes several bipartisan bills in the House Ways and Means Committee and Energy and Commerce Committee that moved through regular order in the House and Senate #### f t # e | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
