Justin Amash (R-Mich.) and Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) today led a bipartisan coalition of 48 representatives on a letter asking Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper for a briefing to resolve questions raised by recent reports that Yahoo had searched all its users’ incoming emails at the federal government’s request. The letter is attached. “Members of Congress have a responsibility to oversee surveillance practices and ensure that all activities comply with the Constitution and federal law,” said Amash. “Our number one job is protecting the rights of the people.” In addition to Amash and Lieu, the letter was signed by Reps.
