http://bridenstine.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=283 Congressman Jim Bridenstine Votes Against Omnibus Spending Bill 2014-12-12 2014 2014-12 Republican House OK Jim Bridenstine B001283 bridenstine.house.gov     legacy There are several good provisions in the omnibus spending bill considered tonight in the House. I could also recite a litany of objectionable provisions in it. Every Congressman could find things to like and to dislike, that's the way it was written. My primary concern was to block any funds to implement the President's unilateral amnesty plan announced on November 20th. The recent election clearly revealed that the American people overwhelmingly oppose any attempt by the Administration to go around Congress and unconstitutionally implement immigration reforms. The President's actions blatantly rebuffed the will of the people. The omnibus bill did not block the President's unconstitutional action, so sixty seven Members of the House, including myself, cosponsored an amendment to block funding, but the amendment was not allowed. In addition to allowing the President to proceed with his unconstitutional amnesty plan, the bill fully funded another year of Obamacare. I voted against the Omnibus spending bill. Congress must return to the "regular order" processes of passing authorizations bills to set policy, and appropriations bills to set spending levels, before the beginning of the fiscal year. The people are not adequately represented by adopting one CR after another or even Omnibus spending bills passed months after the start of the fiscal year.
