Roger was well known by the Durham community for his philanthropic work and steadfast commitment to his beloved alma mater, NCCU. He was the founding chairman of the African American Leadership Initiative of Greater Durham and Wake County, a life member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and held seats on several boards in the Durham area.
