Byrne attended law school at the University of Alabama while Smith graduated from the University of Missouri. Under the terms of the wager, if Alabama wins the SEC Championship, Congressman Smith will provide Missouri BBQ to Congressman Byrne. If Missouri wins the SEC Championship, Congressman Byrne will provide Gulf Coast seafood to Congressman Smith. Byrne said: “I am so proud of our student-athletes at each of the colleges and universities in our state, especially considering an Alabama team has played for the National Championship in each season since 2009 . There is no doubt Alabama is the college football capitol of the world. “While I fully expect to be enjoying some Missouri BBQ, I never miss a chance to share our great Gulf Coast seafood with Members of Congress from other states.
