After the briefing task members discussed recent communications with Park Management, Inc. and next steps.  In letters from Joel Gluck with Park Management the company announced that representatives from the company and their security consultants will be presenting their remediation plan to the Wilkes-Barre City Council at Tuesday’s Council workshop and at Thursday’s Council meeting. Among the details in the remediation plan, Park Management will propose making Sherman Hills a gated community, providing stronger fencing, installing a stronger surveillance system and providing armed guards. Task force members also announced two upcoming meetings.  The first, set to happen during the week of January 20th, will be a private meeting with residents of the Sherman Hills Complex.  The task force hopes that this private setting will allow residents to share their insight into the problems facing the troubled complex.  The task force also announced a public hearing to take place the week of February 17th which will include a set of witnesses that both defines problems and suggests solutions. The task force hopes to receive Park Management’s remediation plan from HUD at the beginning of the New Year. The task force was formed in response to a recent report by HUD, which has paid Sherman Hills $1.7 million this year to provide low-income housing at the 344-unit complex.  Members of the Task Force are Congressman Matt Cartwright (PA-17); Tom Leighton, Mayor, Wilkes-Barre; John Yudichak, State Senator (PA-14); Eddie Pashinski, State Representative (PA-121); Bill Barrett, Chairperson, Wilkes-Barre City Council; Maureen Lavelle, Councilwoman, Wilkes-Barre City Council; George Brown, Councilman, Wilkes-Barre City Council; Tim McGinley, Chair, Luzerne County Council; Harry Haas, Councilman, Luzerne County Council; Edd Brominski, Councilman, Luzerne County Council; Eileen Sorokas, Councilwoman-Elect, Luzerne County; Ron Felton, President, Wilkes-Barre NAACP; Rev.
