The grant from the Department of Defense will secure the presence of defense manufacturers in the 17th district and around Pennsylvania in the face of possible cuts to the Department of Defense budget. The initiative will help diversify businesses, support foreign direct investment, assist displaced workers and develop a strategic plan for Pennsylvania defense manufacturers. “I am pleased to see the defense industry and other business community members coming together to plan for the future of the defense industry in Northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Rep. Cartwright, a member of the Congressional Defense Communities Caucus. “Defense manufacturers create good jobs for residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania. I am proud to support this critically important part of our regional economy.” The two-year program will bring together local businesses, universities and economic development organizations. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
