Kathy Castor (FL14) participated in the launch of the Cross-Bay Ferry and released the following statement: “The Cross-Bay Ferry has great potential to connect our neighbors to jobs, events and attractions. Cross-Bay Ferry service also would provide an important new transit option to a growing and vibrant urban area. We cannot rely on cars alone in the future. “In 2009, I secured $485,000 for a feasibility study for ferry service through a U.S. DOT grant. In 2014, we built on that investment with another $4.8 million federal grant for ferry service to expand transportation options for Tampa Bay, grow jobs and remain competitive.
