I can’t remember the number of times I had to forego a paycheck to make sure my employees and vendors got paid, and the company stayed afloat. Members of Congress need to do the same,” said Congressman Collins.   “That’s why I sponsored the Government Shutdown Fairness Act, to hold Congress accountable and to the same standard families and small businesses are held to everyday. Until we do our job and get the government running again, we don’t get paid. It’s that simple,” said Congressman Collins.     The newest co-sponsors of the bill include   Rep. Dan Benishek (MI-1)  Rep. Vern Buchanan (FL-16) Rep. Mike Coffman (CO-6)  Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13) Rep. Sean Duffy (WI-7)  Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick (PA-8) Rep. Richard Hanna (NY-24) Rep. Bill Johnson (OH-6) Rep. David Joyce (OH-14) Rep. Kenny Marchant (TX-24) Rep. Robert Pittenger (NC-9)  Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) Rep. Scott Rigell (VA-2)  Rep. Jon Runyan (NJ-3) Rep. Steve Southerland (FL-2) Rep. David Valadao (CA-21) Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-2) Rep. Brad Wenstrup (OH-2)   “The American people deserve more from their Congress and it is time, as Members of Congress, that we put ourselves at the back of the line and put our constituents first in a government shutdown,” said Congressman Collins.   “It is wrong that Members of Congress should continue to get paid while programs for veterans, seniors and many others are adversely impacted,” concluded Congressman Collins. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
