This funding comes through DOTs Voluntary Airport Low-Emissions (VALE) program, which is designed to reduce airport emissions and improve the air quality in and around the airport, and will be used to install newer, more efficient air conditioning units in three jet bridges. This funding will help ensure the Memphis Airport can continue serving travelers comfortably and efficiently while protecting our environment for Memphians who live nearby, said Congressman Cohen. Memphis International Airport is a world-class facility serving more than 6 million passengers each year. Dedicated in 1929 as the Memphis Municipal Airport with just two major carriers, the airport now hosts several national carriers as well as the FedEx Super Hub.
