The U.S. Senate approved the legislation on Thursday. It funds the government through Dec. 16. This is a short-term solution which gives the House and the Senate time to complete negotiations on the omnibus spending bill for 2016, said Cramer. Although far from Ideal, I am confident this extra time will result in legislation which all sides can agree upon and repeals the ban on exporting crude oil. It is unfortunate Congress must resort to using one large omnibus spending bill to fund our government. I look forward to both the House and the Senate returning to regular order in 2016 and passing the 12 separate spending bills. Regular order allows for greater oversight of spending by each department and agency.
