While the agreement is far from perfect, I’m pleased that it helps avoid another government shutdown, pares back devastating across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration, and makes critical investments in areas like education and job training, while also reducing the deficit. “Although this measure is a step in the right direction, our work is far from done. There are many issues still left on the table that Congress must address, including extending unemployment insurance for out-of-work Americans and enacting a jobs agenda. The Republican majority must not and cannot leave the unemployed behind.” Congressman Crowley is the eight-term representative from the 14th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx.
