http://crowley.house.gov/press-release/congressman-crowley-statement-tragic-metro-north-derailment Congressman Crowley Statement on the Tragic Metro-North Derailment 2013-12-02 2013 2013-12 Democrat House NY Joseph Crowley C001038 crowley.house.gov     legacy (Queens, N.Y.)  – Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, released the following statement on the Metro-North derailment that claimed the lives of four people including Ahn Kisook, a Korean immigrant and Woodside resident. “It is with a heavy heart that I express my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims in yesterday’s tragic Metro-North derailment including Ahn Kisook, a fellow member of our Woodside community.  As a registered nurse, Ahn was a contributing member of society and her loss will be felt by the many lives she touched at the Sunshine Children's Home and Rehab Center in Ossining, New York where she worked. My thoughts and prayers are also with the dozens of New Yorkers who were injured as a result of the incident. “As we learn more about the cause of this accident in the coming days, we need to make sure that we are taking all the necessary steps to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again. Millions of New Yorkers depend on our mass transit system every day and deserve to feel safe when using it.” Congressman Crowley is the eight-term representative from the 14th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
