Dennis A. Ross (FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, released the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 2029, the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act, which makes permanent more than 20 tax relief provisions, extends a number of other tax relief provisions for multiple years, fosters research and development, and includes a number of additional tax policy changes: I was very happy to vote for the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act because this bill will grow our economy and help American taxpayers keep more of their hard-earned dollars. By making a number of temporary tax provisions permanent, this legislation delivers predictability, clarity, and certainty for individuals, families and job creators. Americans will no longer have to worry each December if Congress will take action to extend certain tax relief policies. The provisions in this bill will prevent a significant immediate tax increase on millions of Americans by allowing state sales tax deductions, providing small business tax relief, and offering incentives for innovation. By delivering permanent tax relief to Americas job creators, this legislation will make it easier for employers to plan ahead, hire new workers, grow their businesses, and invest in their communities. This legislation also includes a number of provisions designed to help prevent high rates of improper payments, fraud, and abuse in our tax credit programs. This bill further includes a series of reforms designed to rein in the power of the IRS and better protect taxpayers, including firing IRS employees who take politically motivated actions against taxpayers, requiring IRS employees to respect the taxpayer bill of rights, and prohibiting IRS employees from using personal e-mail accounts for official business. Americans deserve a simpler, fairer and flatter tax code that is built for growth and stability, and this bill will help make that possible with many conservative provisions. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
