http://donyoung.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=401747 Congressman Don Young Announces Over $75 Million in Funding to Improve Alaska Airport Infrastructure 2020-09-22 2020 2020-09 Republican Senate AK Don Young Y000033 donyoung.house.gov     legacy Congressman Don Young Announces Over $75 Million in Funding to Improve Alaska Airport Infrastructure f t # e Washington, September 22, 2020 Washington, D.C. Today,Alaska Congressman Don Young, former Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, announced that the U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded over $75 million to airports across Alaska under the FAA's Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which allocates funding for airports to make capital improvements, enhance public safety, and restore aging or debilitated infrastructure. Alaska has one of the largest and most active aviation communities in the country. For many of our state's communities, air travel is one of the only ways to remain connected to one another, said Congressman Don Young. As a pilot myself, I know just how important it is that Alaska has reliable and safe airport infrastructure. The FAA's AIP program is one of the nation's most important funding sources for airport infrastructure, and I am a proud advocate for this program. The funding by the FAA is welcome news for Alaskans and the aviation sector they depend on. Whether it is the ability to access goods and services, medical care, or to simply earn a living, air travel will continue to be crucially important to our state. I will continue fighting in Congress to ensure that the people of Alaska can continue to be served by safe and reliable airports for years to come.
