http://franken.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=2615 Senators Klobuchar, Franken Congratulate Lynx on WNBA Championship with Senate Resolution 2013-11-15 2013 2013-11 Democrat House MN Al Franken F000457 franken.senate.gov     legacy Today, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Al Franken (D-Minn.) marked another historic championship win by the Minnesota Lynx women's basketball team with a Senate Resolution congratulating the team. In the resolution passed Thursday, the senators recognized the work of the Lynx, who won their second Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Championship in three years. The resolution also recognizes the Twin Cities and state of Minnesota for their enthusiastic support for the team and women's professional basketball. "Once again, the Lynx have captured the WNBA title after a third consecutive trip to the Finals," Klobuchar said. "All of Minnesota should be proud of the players, coaches, and staff, whose hard work on and off the court has made them a dominant force in the league." "I congratulate the Lynx on their incredible post-season performance and on winning yet another WNBA Championship," said Sen. Franken. "The Lynx have proven twice now that they are the best of the best. Minnesota couldn't be happier for them and I look forward to watching them compete for many seasons to come." With a regular season record of 26-8, the Lynx went on to win every game in the 2013 WNBA playoffs. After defeating the Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury, the Lynx faced the Atlanta Dream in the finals. This is the second WNBA Championship for the Minnesota Lynx in three years. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
