Gosar on Iranian Nuclear Agreement: Once Again It's Amateur Hour at the State Department FLORENCE, ARIZ. - Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04), issued the following statement in regard to President Obama's proclamation of an agreement with Iran about its nuclear ambition: "It's unfortunate that President Obama caved to the historically-false assurances of the Iranian regime. This agreement will not end Iran's nuclear program or ensure peace. It does, however, validate Iran's claim to nuclear weapons. "At no point did the President obtain any assurance that Iran will not use its weaponry to 'wipe Israel off the map' as promised by the Islamic regime. The President failed to obtain the release of Christians held prisoner in Iran, including Pastor Abedini, who has been imprisoned for over a year. "The President agreed to lift effective sanctions and received nothing of value in return. "Once again, it's amateur hour at the State Department. "I stand with Israel and its right to self-defense. That is why I continue to push for passage of H.Res.98, which reaffirms Israel's right to protect itself." BACKGROUND: President Obama recently announced an agreement with Iran that does not prohibit Iran from developing its nuclear arsenal but partially lifts sanctions that were working. The agreement gives validation to Iran's program, contrary to various United Nations Resolutions. The agreement is so poorly negotiated that Israel called it an historic mistake. Rep. Gosar's H.Res.98 is a resolution expressing the House of Representatives' unwavering support of Israel's right to defend itself against acts of war. The resolution affirms that Israel has the moral and legal right to defend itself against existential threats such as the one posed by Iran. Rep. Gosar is a member of the Israel Allies Caucus and introduced similar legislation in the 112th Congress. H.Res.98 currently has 31 co-sponsors. These co-sponsors are listed below: Rep.
