http://green.house.gov/press-release/house-passes-new-bipartisan-stela-reauthorization-bill House Passes New Bipartisan STELA Reauthorization Bill 2014-11-19 2014 2014-11 Democrat House TX Gene Green G000410 green.house.gov     legacy (Washington, DC) – Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 5728, the STELA Reauthorization Act. This new legislation was written in response to Senate debate over H.R. 4572, which passed out of the House in July and would reauthorize expiring communications and copyright law. Congressman Gene Green, coauthor of the pro-consumer integration ban repeal provision adopted in H.R. 5728, released the following statement: “The bill we passed today represents a compromise with our colleagues in the House and Senate, and we look forward to seeing it become law. H.R. 5728 maintains bipartisan provisions from the bill we adopted in July. It includes additional consumer provisions and would repeal the antiquated integration ban, which has cost American consumers over $1 billion over the past seven years and requires commonsense policies that will promote true competition in the cable set top box market. We’ve worked across the aisle all year to ensure that this gets passed before 1.5 million Americans lose access to satellite-provided broadcast programming.” ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
