Grijalva today announced that $2,129,523 has been awarded in Navigator grants to Arizona health care organizations to provide public information on how to choose and enroll in Health Insurance Marketplace plans this fall through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Arizona organizations were eligible for federal funds to assist consumers because Gov. Jan Brewer and the State Legislature chose not to establish a statewide insurance exchange. Recipients include: Arizona Association of Community Health Centers Anticipated grant amount: $1,344,096 The Association plans a statewide enrollment outreach effort. Greater Phoenix Urban League, Inc. Anticipated grant amount: $523,773 The League plans a statewide enrollment outreach effort. Center for Rural Health, University of Arizona Anticipated grant amount: $190,268 The Center for Rural Health particularly aims to reduce the numbers of Asian American and Pacific Islander uninsured in Pima County. Campesinos Sin Fronteras, Inc. Anticipated grant amount: $71,386 Campesinos Sin Fronteras will focus on enrollment assistance to uninsured individuals in Yuma County. These and other Navigator agencies around the country will provide unbiased information about the ACA’s Health Insurance Marketplaces, qualified health plans, and public programs such as Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. They will be required to follow strict privacy standards and trained in protecting customer information. “Millions of Americans, and many thousands of Arizonans, will finally have access to affordable health insurance starting in October, and they should have the information they need to get the most benefit from the law,” Grijalva said. “Navigators will help explain how to choose a plan, how to get the subsidies many families are entitled to, and how to enroll in any plan a family chooses.
