Reps. Guthrie and Doris Matsui (D-CA) were joined by Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry Waxman (D-CA), Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR), and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Ranking Member Anna Eshoo (D-CA). “Spectrum is essential to the development and growth of businesses in our country,” said Congressman Guthrie. “The efficient use of our limited spectrum resources is critical for continued innovation in the ever-changing technological world.” H.R. 3674 would provide financial incentives to encourage government agencies to relocate from their existing spectrum in order to free up additional spectrum for commercial and innovation purposes. Agencies could use these funds to accommodate relocation costs or to offset sequestration cuts. “The Federal Spectrum Incentive Act would advance some of the goals of the REBUILD Act I introduced in October. In order to boost American competitiveness, we need to give manufacturers and other key industries the spectrum they need to innovate,” added Congressman Guthrie.
