Last Sunday, the President addressed the Nation from the Oval Office, only his third time ever doing so. In his address, he repeated the current strategy, saying it is designed and supported by our military commanders and counterterrorism experts, together with 65 countries that have joined an American-led coalition. At a recent G-20 summit in Antalya, Turkey, hedefended the current U.S. strategy against ISISat a press conference, saying, "There will be an intensification of the strategy that we've put forward but the strategy that we are putting forward is the strategy that ultimately is going to work," It's going to take time." The response to the Presidents handling of the situation would show that many are still not convinced this strategy is working. A recent CNN/ORC poll, taken before the attack in San Bernardino, but after the attacks in Paris shows a majority of Americans (53%) say the U.S. should send ground troops to Iraq or Syria to fight ISIS. At the same time, 6-in-10 disapproves of the President's handling of terrorism and 68% say America's military response to the terrorist group thus far has not been aggressive enough. Congress, in an overwhelming bipartisan fashion, recently sent a national defense bill to the Presidents desk, which he signed into law, mandating the Commander-in-Chief issue a concerted strategy to financially and militarily destroy the Islamic State.
