"The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative continues to play a vital role in cleaning up pollution from the past, protecting the Great Lakes, and preserving them for future generations, said Congressman Huizenga. By removing 50,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment, today's project brings Muskegon Lake even closer to being delisted as an area of environmental concern. Building on the success of the delisting of White Lake in 2016, the restoration of Muskegon Lake will generate new economic opportunities, increase tourism, and continue to make Muskegon County an even better place to raise a family.
