The horrific attack and murder of 148 persons, including 132 precious schoolchildren, by the Taliban at the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan appears to be a turning point marking the end of the Pakistan Government’s policy of ambivalence toward jihadists groups. “I am also encouraged by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s declaration that there would be no more ‘good Taliban, and that henceforth militants ‘would be dealt equally with an iron hand.’ Pakistanis want peace and safety, and demand justice for those victims who lost their lives in the attack at the Army Public School. “I urge the leaders of America’s Pakistani communities to gather in Washington, D.C. at the earliest feasible time to discuss ideas and collectives measures to be taken in support the people of Pakistan in the effort to defeat the Taliban and end the violence in their land.” ### Congresswoman Jackson Lee is a Democrat from Texas’s 18th Congressional District. She is a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and is Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
