http://jeffduncan.house.gov/press-release/rep-jeff-duncan-applauds-recent-trump-cabinet-picks Rep. Jeff Duncan applauds recent Trump cabinet picks 2016-11-18 2016 2016-11 Republican House SC Jeffrey Duncan D000615 jeffduncan.house.gov     legacy LAURENS, SC – In response to the news that Senator Jeff Sessions (AL) and Congressman Mike Pompeo had been nominated to positions in President-Elect Donald Trump’s cabinet, Congressman Jeff Duncan released the following statement: “I am simply thrilled at these two excellent choices, and at how President-Elect Trump’s national security team is shaping up. “I am so happy that my friend Jeff Sessions will be our new Attorney General. He is well-suited for this job, having served successfully as Alabama Attorney General. I am most enthusiastic about what this selection means as it relates to finally enforcing our immigration laws and securing our borders. Senator Sessions has been a beacon in the Senate on immigration policy, and his shared commitment on that issue with the incoming President will mean a stronger, safer America. “Mike Pompeo is a friend, colleague and House classmate who is a fantastic choice to head the Central Intelligence Agency.  Mike graduated first in his class at West Point, showing natural leadership that has served him well in the House and will serve him well in this new position.  Kansas’ loss is America’s gain, and I know Mike will do great work in this new role. “I strongly encourage Leader McConnell to bring these two nominations to the floor as soon as possible in the New Year to ensure that President Trump can hit the ground running to keep America safe and secure.” ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
