http://jeffduncan.house.gov/press-release/rep-jeff-duncan-president-elect-trump-s-nomination-gov-haley-serve-ambassador-un Rep. Jeff Duncan on President-Elect Trumps nomination of Gov. Haley to serve as Ambassador to the U.N. 2016-11-23 2016 2016-11 Republican House SC Jeffrey Duncan D000615 jeffduncan.house.gov     legacy Laurens, S.C. – Congressman Duncan released a statement regarding President-Elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Governor Nikki Haley to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations: “President-Elect Trump’s decision to select Governor Nikki Haley to be the United States Ambassador to the United Nations shows his commitment to build a team that is deep in talent and rich in diversity. The President-Elect’s willingness to surround himself with people who will speak their mind and share differing opinions is a testament to the leadership skills that made him so successful in the private sector. I have known Governor Haley since our time serving together in the SC General Assembly, and I have no doubt that she has the temperament, intelligence, and experience to be successful in this important position. Anyone who has been to South Carolina knows how connected we are to the global economy, with businesses like Boeing, BMW, Michelin, and Volvo making our state their home. In order for our state to become the economic success story that is talked about throughout the country, Nikki Haley has had to think globally from her first day in office. She’s traveled the world to encourage businesses to relocate to South Carolina, and in the process has proven herself to be a skilled negotiator. As a member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, I know better than most what challenges face our country globally and what we need from our diplomats. When dealing with the United Nations, we need someone who will stand up and passionately protect American sovereignty. We need someone who will fight for American interests and encourage others to support the cause of freedom. I can say unequivocally that Governor Haley has what it takes for such an important role, and she will be a key part in President-Elect Trump’s plan to Make America Great Again! I stand ready to assist her in any way possible and enthusiastically support her nomination.” ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
