| http://jeffduncan.house.gov/press-release/rep-jeff-duncan-rips-final-2017-2022-5-year-offshore-plan | Rep. Jeff Duncan rips the final 2017-2022 5 year offshore plan | 2016-11-18 | 2016 | 2016-11 | Republican | House | SC | Jeffrey Duncan | D000615 | jeffduncan.house.gov | legacy | LAURENS, SC - Today Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell announced the latest five year offshore leasing plan barring 85% of America’s offshore areas from energy exploration and development. Congressman Jeff Duncan released the following in response to the final plan: “Today the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management released their final plan for the 2017-2022 Five-Year Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Oil and Gas Leasing Program. Unsurprisingly, this administration will end its tenure as one aggressively opposed to harnessing the strategic and economic benefits of American energy independence. By blocking off large portions of drilling access, while simultaneously abusing administrative power including endless delays for Seismic Survey permits in the Atlantic, this administration’s energy policy has been one big failure. “Fortunately, this lame duck administration is coming to its end, and its dim-bulb energy policy with it. “In Congress, I will work tirelessly to reengage domestic energy production. The American people are fed up with artificial government barriers obstructing American greatness. Safe and responsible energy development is in everyone’s interest, but when bureaucratic elites in Washington take steps beyond reasonable oversight and instead choose to elevate nakedly ideological goals above the interests of the American people, they have failed to nurture a better future for America. I look forward to working with the new Trump Administration to make America’s energy economy great again, in part by reversing the 2017-2022 final plan with future legislation. ” ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
