From her position as a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, Herrera Beutler fought to secure critical funding which is now being awarded through theBetter Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant to the city of Ridgefield. Herrera Beutler has been working closely with Ridgefield officials to advocate for the BUILD grant targetedspecifically to this project. The BUILD grant will be used to expand and extend Pioneer Street to dramatically improve freight and vehicle mobility, address significant safety problems, and greatly expand land development in the Ridgefield Junction area. Ridgefield's economic development capacity is currently limited by insufficient access to industrial and commercial areas, preventing the city from growing an employment base. It's anticipated this increased access to develop land over a 20-year period would garner8,600 new full-time jobsand over$580 million in private investments. Ridgefield is one of our state's fastest-growing cities and we need infrastructure that can match this growth and allow more employment opportunities to come here, too,Herrera Beutler said.I worked in Congress to secure this critical funding so that Southwest Washington communities like Ridgefield can safely accommodate more jobs, offer more educational resources, and keep it a wonderful place to live as it grows in the coming years. We are so excited to receive word of our successful BUILD grant award for the Pioneer Street Extension Project. We could not have done this without the strong support and advocacy of Congresswoman Herrera Beutler and our Congressional delegation,Ridgefield Mayor Don Stose said.Their help in securing these critical federal dollars was so important to our success. The project will be a boon for our region for decades to come. The Pioneer Street Extension Project will create over 8,000 jobs, attract higher levels of private investment to underutilized land, provide access to Clark College's new campus and increase efficiency and safety of vehicle and truck freight. This is a great day for Ridgefield and opens up exciting opportunities for our future quality of life. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
