Brownley originally introduced the provision as a stand-alone bill in the House (H.R. 1581). The legislation would transfer land from the former Oxnard Air Force Base back to the County of Ventura. Working with her colleagues, Brownley was able to include the language in the House-passed National Defense Authorization Act and the final conference agreement. “I came to Congress to create jobs by strengthening Ventura County’s diverse economy,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “The transfer of the land back to the County will spur business development at the airport, which is an important economic driver for Ventura County.” “Congresswoman Brownley continues to be a champion for our aviation issues in the County of Ventura,” said Todd McNamee, Director of Airports. “The Business Park at the Camarillo Airport generates approximately 40 percent of the revenue for the airport, and transferring the land back to the county through this legislative action will provide opportunity for future development and revenue generation.
