The Committee was formed in 2013 as a proactive partnership to address agriculture issues on both the local and national level. Many topics were discussed including crop insurance, excessive government regulation, and healthcare. I always enjoy hosting these meetings with the Agriculture Advisory Committee and the discussion generated helps inform my decisions in Washington D.C., said Kinzinger. Agriculture is a major economic driver for the Illinois 16th Congressional District, and Washington needs to empower our agriculture community and allow them to do what they do best: produce food not only for the U.S. but also globally. Monty Whipple, LaSalle County Farm Bureau President, was present for the meeting. "I really appreciate the Congressman's interest in the number one industry in Illinois, agriculture. He realizes the importance farming and agriculture play in the total United States economy, said Whipple. Congressman Kinzinger has represented rural America well, and maintains his desire to be on top of what needs to be done from a legislative perspective to help our American farmers and agri-businesses. He takes the personal time to relate to us on a one to one basis to learn firsthand of our issues." Jim Schielein, another member of the Agriculture Advisory Committee and Lee County Farm Bureau member, was also present for Thursdays meeting. "It is a joy to have a Congressman like Adamwho is truly willing to listen and understand the issues facing Agriculture and the entire 16th Congressional District. We talked through many issues in the time we were together."
