Kuster is a cosponsor of the bipartisan legislation, which passed the House of Representatives yesterday by a vote of 404 to 17. “Individuals with disabilities and their families should have the opportunity to build savings and invest in the future, just like every other American family,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “This bill will allow people with disabilities to better afford a range of everyday expenses, including medical care, employment training, housing, and transportation. I was proud to reach across the aisle and work with my colleagues from both parties to pass this common sense, bipartisan legislation that bolsters the priorities that matter to Granite Staters with disabilities.” The ABLE Act was designed to establish parity for individuals with disabilities and their families by establishing tax-preferred savings accounts that can be used to cover basic, essential expenses. These qualified expenses include health care, education, housing, and transportation. The legislation also ensures that the funds from these accounts would supplement other benefits from private or employer insurance, not replace them. The bipartisan ABLE Act helps to provide economic security to Americans who often face significant financial burdens. Since taking office, Congresswoman Kuster has been a strong supporter of Granite Staters with disabilities. She has advocated for maintaining educational opportunities and fair wages for people with disabilities, and has fought to improve benefits and services for disabled veterans. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
