Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement after attending Pope Francis address to the joint session of Congress this morning. Today, my colleagues and I were fortunate to hear Pope Francis hopeful and compassionate message about how we all can play our part in serving the least among us here in the United States and around the world. Pope Francis is a truly kindhearted and inspiring individual whose efforts toward fighting poverty, safeguarding human rights, and protecting the environment stand as guidance for those from all faiths. The issues I have been fighting for in Congress, like access to affordable health care, family leave, raising the minimum wage, and equal pay for equal work, are integral to Pope Francis message of dignity for every person. In the spirit of the Popes visit, I hope that both Democrats and Republicans can come together to not only address the short-term challenges before Congress but also the greater goal of strengthening economic fairness and opportunity in our society. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
