LoBiondo (NJ-02) today applauded the 3-person team from Cumberland Regional High School for winning the 2016 Congressional App Challenge. Their submission - “County College Class Conversion” - is a mobile application designed to instantly allow students to know which completed courses at one school receive credit at another university or college. This is the second year in a row that the winning team is from Cumberland Regional High School. “Congratulations to Connor, Leslie and Logan for their innovative and practical app design. It is clear they were looking to their own academic future and seeking to simplify a common concern for students across the country in planning for higher education. I was impressed by the substantial thought and execution displayed in this app,” said LoBiondo. “I applaud all of the students who participated in this year’s Congressional App Challenge and encourage you and your classmates to continue creating forward-looking technology.” The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide competition aimed at encouraging high school students to learn how to code by creating their own applications for mobile devices. The Challenge seeks to highlight the value of computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education while spurring friendly competition between competing teams. Twelve (12) teams comprised of thirty-one (31) students across South Jersey competed in the third annual challenge. This is the third year of the Congressional App Challenge and the third year LoBiondo’s office has hosted the competition for South Jersey students. For the 2016 challenge, 193 Congressional districts held contests. Information about the Congressional App Challenge can be found at www.congressionalappchallenge.us LoBiondo visited the winning team at Cumberland Regional High School today to congratulate them and present Congressional citations to each of the students.
