The report concluded that over ten years, approximately 23 million fewer people would have their healthcare coverage than under the current legislation. “Today’s new CBO report reaffirms what many have feared – that even with the tweaks made by Republicans, this plan rips healthcare coverage from millions of Americans. It does this while giving the top 400 highest income families an annual $7 million tax break. The bill continues to put Iowa’s and America’s most vulnerable, including seniors, children, people with disabilities and the working poor, at greater risk by cutting nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid. There is no doubt that we must continue to improve the ACA, but cutting millions of Americans from having coverage is not a way to do that.
