Loebsack serves as the co-chair of the House Biofuels Caucus and has fought to ensure that the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) remains strong.“For all of President Trump’s promises to fight for rural America, it appears he once again has turned his back on Iowa’s farmers and rural communities. Never in its history has the EPA reduced the amount of advanced biofuels required to be used in the U.S. under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). Additionally, the amount of conventional biofuels, like ethanol, to be used in the U.S. will remain stagnant. Now is not the time to sit on our laurels. We must aggressively push for the EPA to expand the RFS and the use of biofuels, not slash it. Folks in Iowa know that the RFS is working. It cuts down on our dependence of foreign oil, creates jobs, is better for our environment, and lowers the price of gasoline at the pump.
