In his appearance in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Loebsack asked Perry to definitively state on-the-record the Administration’s commitment to renewable energy, including support for wind and solar energy, after EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt recently said he would do away with these important credits. In his answer, Secretary Perry refused to simply answer yes or no in regards to the Administration’s commitment to renewable energy. Video of the exchange can be found here. “There is no hesitation among Iowans about the good jobs and boost to our rural economy that Iowa has seen because of our growing wind energy sector. I am disappointed that Secretary Perry did not unequivocally state that this Administration would continue to support renewable energy. Iowans know that wind works and is bringing good jobs to the state, boosting our rural economy and helping end our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
